Get alerted even when your phone is on silent mode

Danilo Bianchi 3 min read

If you’re like most people, you probably have your phone on silent most of the time. But there are times when you really need to be alerted, even if your phone is on silent. Luckily, there’s a simple trick that can help.

Setting different types of alerts on your phone

There are several different types of alerts you can set on your phone, and each one has a different sound. To change the sound for an alert, go to Settings > Sounds. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and you’ll see an option for Emergency Bypass.

Tap on Emergency Bypass and then choose the types of alerts that you want to hear, even when your phone is on silent. For example, you might want to be alerted for phone calls, messages, or calendar events. Now when you get an alert for one of the types of notifications you’ve selected, your phone will make a sound even if it’s on silent.

Choose a type of alert for notifications

You can choose which type of alerts you want to receive for each individual app on your phone. So if you want to be alerted for new messages in your email app but not your social media apps, you can do that. To change the notification settings for an individual app, go to Settings > Notifications.

Scroll down to the list of apps and tap on the one you want to change. Then, tap on the type of notification you want to change and choose your settings. For example, you can choose to have the app make a sound, show a badge on the icon, or show a banner across the top of the screen when you receive a notification. You can also choose whether or not you want the notification to appear on the lock screen.

Do alarms go off when phone is on silent

Yes, alarms will still go off when the phone is on silent. However, you can choose to have certain types of alerts make a sound even when the phone is on silent. You can also choose to have the phone vibrate when you receive a notification.

To change these settings, go to Settings > Sounds. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and tap on Emergency Bypass. Then, choose the types of alerts that you want to hear, even when your phone is on silent. You can also choose to have the phone vibrate when you receive a notification by going to Settings > Sounds and tapping on Vibration.

You can also have specific people’s calls or texts go straight to voicemail

If you want to make sure that you don’t get calls or texts from certain people, you can add them to your blocked list. To do this, go to Settings > Phone. Tap on Blocked and then add the contact that you want to block. Once you’ve added a contact to your blocked list, they will no longer be able to call or text you.

You can also choose to have certain people’s calls go straight to voicemail. To do this, go to Settings > Phone. Tap on the contact that you want to send straight to voicemail and then scroll down to the bottom of the page. Tap on Block this Caller and then choose whether you want to block their calls or texts.

You can also set up Do Not Disturb mode

Do Not Disturb mode is a setting that you can use to silence all incoming calls and notifications. To turn on Do Not Disturb mode, go to Settings > Do Not Disturb. Then, tap on the switch next to Do Not Disturb to turn it on. You can also schedule Do Not Disturb mode to turn on and off automatically at certain times.

You can also choose to have certain types of notifications go through even when Do Not Disturb mode is turned on. To do this, go to Settings > Do Not Disturb. Tap on the switch next to Allow Repeated Calls to turn it on. This will allow calls from the same number to come through if they’re made within three minutes of each other.
